Default How do you know?
How do you know when or if you should get a service dog? I can't afford one right now, but I have been wondering if I should even be contemplating it

It depends on your disability. Talk to your doctor. Do some research. SDs are not for everyone and they are a huge commitment in time and emotional involvement. Cost as far as I'm concerned is irrelevant but about 4000 a year after initial training.
